Apple File System (APFS) allocates disk space on demand. When a single APFS container (partition) has multiple volumes, the container’s free space is shared and can be allocated to any of the individual volumes as needed. Each volume uses only part of the overall container, so the available space is the total size of the container, minus the size of all volumes in the container.
Each volume you add to an APFS container can have a different file system format, if needed.
Part 3: Delete Apps Downloaded from Mac App Store. One of the best alternative to delete any app is by simply deleting it from the sales page from the App Store. Once you have done that, you will no longer be able to download it form there anymore. But, the app will remain active in the iTunes account which is associated with that.
In the Disk Utility app on your Mac, select an existing APFS volume in the sidebar, then click the Add Volume button in the toolbar.
Enter a name for the new APFS volume.
Click the Format pop-up menu, then choose an APFS format.
If you want to encrypt the volume, choose APFS (Encrypted) or APFS (Case-sensitive, Encrypted).
If you want to manually manage APFS volume allocation, click Size Options, enter values in the fields, then click OK.
Reserve Size: The optional reserve size ensures that the amount of storage remains available for this volume.
Quota Size: The optional quota size limits how much storage the volume can allocate.
Click Add, then click Done.
When you delete a volume, all the data on the volume is permanently erased, and the volume is removed from the container.
In the Disk Utility app on your Mac, select the APFS volume you want to delete in the sidebar.
Click the Delete Volume button in the toolbar.
Click Delete, then click Done.
When you erase a volume, all the data on the volume is permanently erased, and the empty volume remains in the container.
In the Disk Utility app on your Mac, select the APFS volume you want to erase in the sidebar.
Mac mail app links won't open. Thanks for all the suggestions, but it seems to have self-corrected.I came home to find a notification on my desktop from MailButler saying that I had to restart Mail in order for it to install an update. Go to System Preferences Internet Accounts.Uncheck Mail for each account but one. Does it work now?If yes, before adding other accounts, import your local 'On My Mac' folders. Open Mail. Quit Mail, go to your User's Library/Mail folder and rename MailXXX.
Click the Erase button in the toolbar.
(Optional) Enter a new name for the volume.
(Optional) Click the Format pop-up menu, then choose an APFS format.
If you want to encrypt the volume, choose APFS (Encrypted) or APFS (Case-sensitive, Encrypted).
Click Erase, then click Done.
You can’t delete or erase your startup volume. See Erase and reformat a storage device.
With Messages for Mac, you can send unlimited messages to any Mac, iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch that uses iMessage, Apple's secure-messaging service. iPhone owners can use it for SMS and MMS messages, too.
iMessage is the Apple messaging service you get automatically with your Apple ID.If it's not already set up, you're asked to sign in when you first open the Messages app. Sign in with same Apple ID that you use with Messages on your iPhone and other devices. It's usually the same Apple ID that you use for iCloud, the iTunes Store, the App Store, and the account you created when you first set up your Mac.
With macOS Sierra or later, you can also use Siri to send, read, and reply to Messages:
macOS Sierra introduces Tapback to the Mac. A Tapback is a quick response that expresses what you think about a message, such as that you like it or think it's funny. In the image above, the heart next to ”See you then!' is a Tapback. Here's how to do it:
Your Tapback is visible to everyone in the conversation who is using iMessage with macOS Sierra or later or iOS 10 or later. Other iMessage users see 'Liked' or 'Laughed at' or 'Emphasized,' for example, followed by the text of that message.
iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch also have Tapback, as well as other message effects available only on those devices. Most such affects look the same on your Mac when you receive them. Others appear as a description of the effect, such as ”(sent with Loud Effect).”
If you have an iPhone with a text messaging plan, learn how to set up text message forwarding so you can send and receive SMS and MMS messages from your Mac.
When you permanently delete a message or conversation, you can't get it back. So make sure that you save important information from your messages.
